Ruto backtracks

Ruto, Balala and rebel ODM MPs who skipped their party's retreat attended a funds drive in Kakamega instead.

Ruto said the simmering differences in the ODM party would be resolved soon.

Ruto pointed out that the problem will be resolved in the next few days since the government had agreed to resettle and compensate the evictees from the Mau forest, which is the main cause of infighting in the ODM party.

He explained that the problems in the party were as a result of personal differences which were healthy for democracy.

Ruto seemed to be backtracking on his statement that he made a mistake in backing Prime Minister Raila Odinga for president in the 2007 General Election.

Information Minister Samuel Poghisio who accompanied the ministers maintained that Mau settlers should be resettled and compensated.

On Saturday Ruto, who is also the Eldoret North MP held parallel rallies in Kapenguria where he was endorsed as their presidential candidate for 2012 presidential election.
